Economy Spurs Sales of Canvas Prints

Due to the tough economic environment, artists are offering more affordable opportunities for art collectors at festivals and exhibits this year. Giclee Printing has made possible high quality canvas prints that are collectible and potentially valuable as the artist notoriety increases, and have longevity due to the quality ink used. Artists at the 52nd Allentown Art Festival in Buffalo, New York, discussed a downturn in art sales and the increase in canvas prints being exhibited for sale. The attendance at this festival was anticipated to be up from previous festivals this year, which thrilled the community organizers, but the artists were unsure of the economic impact of the current economy on their actual sales figures. This resulted in the poignant change in offerings to accommodate the family desiring the cheerful, uplifting character of quality art, but unable to purchase an original. Canvas Prints done in giclee printing are no zerox copy; they have markings and dating that increase their value and significance for collectability. Giclee prints are made with a totally different process of spraying to reproduce the print as a canvas print. This is a good time for a collector to acquire quality artwork for a much smaller expenditure of money by purchasing a canvas print instead of a pricey original.
